Specialist Occupational Therapy for schools and colleges
Achieve Therapy was founded by Loulette Schieke, a specialist Occupational Therapist with over two decades of experience supporting children and young people with complex sensory, emotional, and developmental needs.
Loulette qualified as an Occupational Therapist in South Africa in 1999 and has since built a career focused on paediatric practice within education settings. Her work is grounded in post-graduate training in Sensory Integration (SI) and shaped by a strong commitment to trauma-informed, relationship-based care.
After many years of running a successful independent practice, Achieve Therapy was established to focus specifically on high-impact work within schools and colleges. The aim is not only to support individual students, but to embed understanding, consistency, and practical strategies across the wider system around them.

For School Staff
We deliver engaging, accessible training that bridges theory and day-to-day practice. Sessions may include:
An integrative, relational, and evidence-informed philosophy
Our work draws on contemporary neuroscience, sensory integration theory, and attachment-informed practice. At the heart of our approach is a simple principle:
Sensory Integration focuses on how the brain organises and interprets sensory information from the body and environment. Our assessments and interventions are grounded in SI principles to address foundational sensory needs, rather than focusing solely on surface-level behaviours.
We recognise that behaviour is communication. Our work prioritises predictability and safety, co-regulation before self-regulation, and attuned, trusting relationships. We draw on Polyvagal-informed practice and PACE (Playfulness, Acceptance, Curiosity, Empathy) frameworks.
Interoception is the ability to notice and interpret internal body signals. We explicitly teach students to notice body signals, link sensations to emotions and needs, and choose appropriate regulation strategies. This is central to developing long-term self-regulation.
Creating spaces that support regulation
We can advise on the design and use of sensory spaces within your school, ensuring they are purposeful, safe, and aligned with therapeutic goals.
A well-designed sensory environment provides opportunities for vestibular and proprioceptive input, supports emotional regulation, and creates a predictable space where students feel safe to explore and learn.
